	Grontmij | Carl Bro has leading expertise in calculation of combined loads from wind turbine, waves, current and ice with commercially available computer codes. Each wind farm site has specific characteristics and based on a site assessment, a basis for design of foundations must be established. A Danish research project including comprehensive laboratory measurements on dynamic ice-loads at different wind foundation structures has given Grontmij | Carl Bro a unique basis for prediction of ice-loads. We established the design basis for the worlds first large-scale offshore wind farm situated at Middelgrunden in Denmark and since then we have developed site assessment and design basis for several offshore sites. Conceptual studies to point out the relevant foundation technology for a site has given us an expertise in adaptation of the technology to a specific site such as: • studies on possible severe ice floe • soft sea bed • rock in sea bed • availability of low cost labour • optimised and feasible concrete structures • availability of marine equipment
