The two projects - MULTIGAS and ULTRAGAS are 10,000 and 12,000 cbm vessels for the transport of liquified natural gas. The contracts include both design of the vessels and the cargo processing plant, and are therefore joint ventures that traverse Grontmij | Carl Bros areas of expertise.
Good relationships form the basis of good shipbuilding
The Norwegian shipping line I.M. Skaugen is one of the world’s major gas transporters, and it has collaborated with Grontmij | Carl Bro for several years, a collaboration which has been significantly extended thanks to the newbuild projects:
“The collaboration with I.M. Skaugen has led to very close relationships between our organisations, which has formed the basis for excellent and unique teamwork”, explains Project Manager Peter Smith Bendtsen from Grontmij | Carl Bro.
“As designers, we gain a lot of practical knowledge of the transport and cargo operations from the input we receive from I.M. Skaugen. This allows us to continually hone our skills, and reach the correct decisions, based on our profound knowledge of our client’s needs”.
Until 2010, Grontmij | Carl Bro forms part of I.M. Skaugen’s expansion plans and the client/contractor relationship has changed into a real partnership.
