GRONTMIJ | CARL BRO IMPLEMENTS DETAILED PLANNING FOR HOLBÆK MOTORWAY

Grontmij | Carl Bro will be responsible, with the Danish Road Directorate as client, for the detailed technical aspects of road and traffic planning for the expansion of the Danish ”Holbæk motorway” between Fløng and Roskilde West.
In the last ten years, traffic on the Holbæk motorway has risen by around 30 per cent, and drivers are now experiencing daily delays in rush hour periods. As part of the political traffic agreement from 2001, which, among other things, will ensure greater capacity on the roads in the Copenhagen region, the heavily-trafficked Holbæk motorway between Fløng and Roskilde West is now being expanded.
The motorway will be expanded from four to six lanes, although the stretch through Fløng will be expanded to eight lanes, as the traffic there is particularly bad. Grontmij | Carl Bro will be responsible for the entire detailed planning of the technical aspects of the road and traffic for this complex construction assignment.
At the moment, the Danish Road Directorate is close to concluding the expansion of the southern motorway between Ønslev and Sakskøbing. Grontmij | Carl Bro has been responsible for the detailed planning and inspection of the technical road and traffic elements of construction for this assignment as well, and it is expected to finish on time and under budget.
During work on the southern motorway, Grontmij | Carl Bro has gathered many useful experiences, which will be especially valuable for work on the expansion of the Holbæk motorway.
The Danish Road Directorate, when selecting the consultant, placed great emphasis on skills such as interdisciplinary interface coordination, professionalism and control of finances, time and resources – all qualifications that Grontmij | Carl Bro places great emphasis on when implementing projects.
Grontmij | Carl Bro will solve the assignment by using digital projecting and 3D modelling, and will use both employees with many years of experience and younger employees familiar with the latest, state-of-the-art IT/CAD expertise.
