CHINA: GUIZHOU CULTURAL AND NATIONAL HERITAGE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT PROJECT FOR PROVINCIAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

Grontmij | Carl Bro were selected by the World Bank to provide technical expertise to the Provincial Tourism Bureau and to the World Bank to design a tourism development loan to the Guizhou province.
Key focus areas include:
Review and update of the tourism development strategy for Guizhou; Poviding guidance for providing the necessary and appropriate facilities at gateway cities; and,
providing advise and guidance for planning of tourism facilities at the scenic, natural and cultural heritage sites in Guizhou.
The project will facilitate a tourism development loan to the Guizhou province in order to support the economic growth of the Guizhou province: Guizhou is one of the poorest provinces in China but have a unique opportunity for developing its tourism resources.
The technical assistance will ultimately lead to creating more jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities in the tourism sector, which directly will help alleviate poverty in the province and its quest to meet the Millenium Development goals. In addition this will enhance foreign exchange earnings for the Guizhou province.
The project is headed by Dr. Erik Holm-Petersen and Mr. Kristoffer Hvidsteen.
