The objective of the project was to provide technical assistance to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) to build a strong system of National Parks and Protected Areas while allowing further development of the tourist sector to take place. The project was funded by the EU.
The project was a continuation of an ongoing project to strengthen the development of Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
During the 5-year project period Grontmij | Carl Bro provided the following services:
- Institutional capacity building
- Staff training
- Production of an environmental database
- Development of a monitoring system
- Public awareness
