LATVIA, KEMERI NATIONAL PARK, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A MANAGEMENT PLAN

The immediate objective was to develop and implement a management plan for Kemeri National Park - taking into account habitats, natural resources, cultural and historical values as well as the livelihood of local inhabitants - and the tools and principles made available for replication in other parts of the region

The main components were:

Component 1:
Development and implementation of a management plan for Kemeri National Park, based on a participatory approach;

Component 2:
Awareness raising in the local communities of the park territory and the Latvian general public;

Component 3:
Capacity building of the administration of Kemeri National Park, local and regional planning authorities and other Latvian institutions;

Component 4:
Replication

Component 5:
Compliance with international policies.

The outputs of the project are: 

  • Transfer of Know-how

  • An Inception Report (Overview of Status and Experience) 
  • A Draft Management Plan 
  • Public Participation and Awareness Raising 
  • Capacity Building
