In Vinh (about 276,000 inhabitants) the existing combined drainage system shall be rehabilitated and expanded. Five simple mechanical wastewater treatment plants shall be established (one of them partly existing), sludge treatments added. A new regional sanitary landfill shall be built, including the necessary infrastructure, leachate and gas treatment. (15-08-2004) |

The objective of the overall project is to complete the first stage of the environmental protection project on water management for Panevezys City, i.e. to upgrade the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) and reduce pollution of the river Nevezis and also of the Baltic Sea. The plant must fulfil the EU, HELCOM and Lithuanian requirements after upgrading for the period of minimum 20 years, except for sludge utilisation. For the upgrading, the preliminary revised design data is 30.000 m3/day, incl 45% infiltration and a possible increase up to 36.000 m3/day or some 13 million m3/year is to be foreseen. Final design will be decided by the PIU and Consultant. The total amount of funding available for implementation is 11 MEURO. (23-08-2002) |
