Steffen Moe is chief consultant for one of the most complicated renovation projects in Denmark in recent times – renovation of Copenhagen’s 100-year-old railway station.
“Being chief consultant for a project like this is both exciting and demanding. It’s a huge responsibility, maintaining an overview of the many engineering disciplines involved. It involves everything from complicated concrete renovation methods to advance acoustic calculations of noise and vibration conditions, as the heavy construction machinery works close to the station buildings and the adjacent hotels. At the same time, I need to ensure that the client and contractors receive all the essential information regarding finances, schedules and the quality of the work,” explains Steffen.
Well-equipped for the task
“I also need to support the client in their mission of being ‘straightforward’ and keeping passengers, neighbours, official bodies and, of course, the huge DSB workforce who use the central railway station every day informed about progress and any problems.”
“My background as an engineer means that I can combine the analytical and technical skills I learnt while studying with my many years of experience as a consultant engineer at Grontmij | Carl Bro. As a result, I feel well equipped to handle this assignment along with my colleagues and the many partners involved in the work of renovating the central railway station so that it can meet the challenges of the next 100 years.”
