Lene Mundus, engineer, is 56 years old and has worked for Grontmij | Carl Bro for 21 years. She would like to stay with the company until she retires.
“I think one of the main reasons I have stayed with Grontmij | Carl Bro for 21 years is that I feel I actually have freedom with responsibility, and also because I am constantly faced with new challenges. In my department, we all work independently on projects, even those who have recently qualified. We do everything we can to ensure that young people are given responsibility for their own projects early on, so they have an opportunity to become project managers themselves,” explains Lene Mundus. As a project manager at Environment, Water and Energy specialising in contaminated soil, she is responsible for the entire process relating to soil examinations, from contact with the customer and the authorities to agreements on drilling bore holes, dealing with analysis laboratories and preparing the subsequent reports.
Good, informal atmosphere“Grontmij | Carl Bro allows me to get involved in many aspects of the environment. My many years with Grontmij | Carl Bro have given me an extensive internal network, and many of my colleagues ask me for advice when it comes to contaminated soil. I act as a kind of advice line for the entire department,” says Lene with a smile, before continuing: “I have some wonderful colleagues. We really get on well in my department. We see each other privately, and the department has a ‘hobby room’ with table football and darts which is very well visited – it is also where we meet for our Friday beer. All in all we do a lot to create a good, informal atmosphere in the department. We have even introduced No-Whinging Wednesdays where you’re only allowed to say something positive. And if you can not find something positive to say, you will just have to keep quiet that day!”
