THE SKY’S THE LIMIT…

26/06/2007
… says 37-year-old Department Director of the Building Division in Glostrup, Lars Bork Hansen, who has enjoyed a meteoric career since joining Grontmij | Carl Bro in 1996.

“What characterises Grontmij | Carl Bro as a workplace is the fact that the sky’s the limit. One of our values is that ‘we create opportunities – for people who dare to challenge their capabilities’, and this reflects reality. If you dare to make a difference, there are numerous opportunities available to you as an employee at Grontmij | Carl Bro. We have comprehensive know-how within the industry, and we now have even greater potential, as we have become a player on the global market.”

Meteoric career

Lars greatly values the challenges he has faced during his time at Grontmij | Carl Bro – even though some of them have been tough. “I have developed a great deal as a person during my time at Grontmij | Carl Bro because I have been thrown into challenging situations that had to be resolved on the spot. I was managing eight employees when, as a 29-year-old, I was put in charge of a department with 35 employees. That was a huge challenge that really made me grow up quick.” Since then Lars Bork Hansen has risen rapidly through the ranks and is now in charge of 110 employees.

Team spirit and opportunities

Lars particularly emphasises the team spirit and the wealth of opportunities as factors that distinguish Grontmij | Carl Bro from other companies: “We have lots of excellent workers here, who put in a huge effort every day. One essential question is whether you need to generate results in order to have fun, or have fun in order to generate results? It’s difficult to answer that, but if the employees are having fun, I believe that results will follow. It may be simple – but it works.”
